Job description

Children's Residential Support Worker

50 per sleep-in

Bring Your Energy. Help Children Thrive.

We're looking for compassionate, resilient people to join our team in Crewkerne and help create a safe, stable home where children can feel valued, build confidence, and enjoy childhood.

This role is about much more than care. It's about being the trusted adult who encourages a child to try something new, celebrates their achievements, teaches life skills, and helps them believe in their future.

Our home is a spacious four-bedroom detached property supporting two children, giving you the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and provide genuinely individualised support. Located close to the town centre, the home has easy access to schools, community activities, local amenities, and outdoor spaces that help children learn, grow, and develop independence.

We're looking for people who bring warmth, empathy, positivity, and good energy into the home. Whether your interests are sport, music, cooking, fitness, gaming, arts and crafts, or the outdoors, your personality, hobbies, and life experience can help children discover new opportunities and build confidence.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Providing day-to-day care, guidance, and emotional support.
  • Supporting children to develop confidence, independence, and life skills.
  • Encouraging involvement in education, hobbies, activities, and community opportunities.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at all times.
  • Managing challenging situations using therapeutic and child-centred approaches.
  • Working alongside colleagues and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Celebrating children's achievements and milestones along the way.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience supporting children, young people, or adults with complex needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or behaviours that challenge.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve positive outcomes.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and sleep-ins.
  • Willingness to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if not already qualified.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who can see beyond behaviour, build trust, and provide the consistency and encouragement children need to thrive.
