Senior Support Worker - Children\'s Residential Home

Location: Tanglewood, Leatherhead

Salary: £34,320.00 plus £60 per sleep (as per business need)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Support Worker to join our team at Tanglewood, supporting children and young people aged 8-17 with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. This is a rewarding but demanding role where you\'ll play a vital part in creating a safe, nurturing, and family-style environment.

You will lead shifts, support colleagues, and ensure children receive consistent care within a trauma-informed, therapeutic framework.

Why Join Us?

At Tanglewood, our ethos is to provide a home where children feel safe, valued, and supported. We believe in helping every child grow, heal, and thrive. Staff are supported through:

  • A strong trauma-informed practice (including the PACE model - Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy).
  • Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), restorative practice, and reflective supervision.
  • Regular clinical input and training, ensuring staff feel equipped and confident.
  • A safe, inclusive environment where staff wellbeing is valued as highly as the children.
What You\'ll Be Doing
  • Leading shifts, guiding colleagues, and ensuring care plans are followed.
  • Building trusting, therapeutic relationships with children who have experienced trauma.
  • Supporting young people to develop life skills, independence, and resilience.
  • Encouraging engagement in hobbies, education, and community activities.
  • Acting as a role model, creating a positive and consistent culture in the home.
  • Promoting safeguarding and ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards.
What We\'re Looking For
  • Experience working with children with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and ability to manage challenging behaviours.
  • Emotional resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to children\'s wellbeing.
  • Leadership skills to guide and inspire junior colleagues.
What We Offer
  • £34,320.00 base salary per year.
  • Sleep-in allowance of £60 per night according to business need.
  • Additional overtime opportunities.
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training, including PBS, Trauma-Informed Practice, and PRICE.
  • Career progression opportunities into Deputy Manager roles.
  • A supportive, reflective culture that invests in staff as much as the children.

This is more than just a job - it\'s an opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people while developing your own career.

Apply today to join our dedicated team at Tanglewood.
