Overview
As a Registered Children's Home Manager, you will be the backbone of the home. You will draw on extensive experience working in children's homes to manage and lead a passionate team, ensuring smooth operation of the home, best-in-class care for young people, and Ofsted excellence.
Responsibilities
- Run a children's home to "Good" or "Outstanding" standards, adhering to Ofsted's Children's Homes Act (2015), Quality Standards, and Safeguarding Procedures
- Manage a staff team, complete Supervisions and Appraisals, and ensure trainings are carried out in line with Quality Standards
- Develop and review Ofsted-required paperwork such as care plans, behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and regulated "Reg" reports; attend and engage in LAC, EHCP, PEP, and Pathway Planning meetings and reviews
- Communicate effectively with young people, colleagues, families, and external professionals
- Conduct administrative tasks including health and safety checks, medication audits, rotas, finances, recruitment activities and inductions
- On-call responsibilities; provide expert advice in out-of-hour crises
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years' experience leading a team specifically within a children's home environment
- Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
- Understanding of the SCCIF, Childrens Home Act (2015), and Quality Standards; ability to register as a manager with Ofsted and pass a Fit Person's Interview
- A genuine passion for supporting the well-being and healthy development of young people, and for supporting your staff team
