Cornwall Council’s Children’s Legal Team is looking for a skilled Lawyer to advise on safeguarding and high‑profile matters across the county. You will manage your own caseload with support from a Legal Assistant and supervision from a Senior Lawyer, taking ownership while collaborating with a dedicated team to develop expertise in public law for children.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor/CILEX/Barrister with litigation rights or equivalent
• Experience in Children’s social care or public law is desirable
• Ability to analyse complex information and apply the law practically

Responsabilités

• Conduct and progress complex children’s legal cases in compliance with court deadlines and service standards
• Undertake legal research, drafting, negotiation and advocacy where authorised
• Collaborate across Legal Services and Children’s Services to improve service delivery
• Maintain up-to-date legal knowledge and advise on changes in law and practice
• Provide high-quality legal advice to officers, senior leaders and elected Members
