About the Role

We're looking for a passionate and experienced Children's Home Manager (also known as Residential Care Manager or Registered Manager) to lead a children's residential care home in Birmingham.

You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, stable, and nurturing home for young people aged 8-17 who have experienced trauma or challenging life circumstances. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference every day — supporting young people to reach their full potential and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Residential Support Workers and Senior Support Staff.
  • Ensure the home provides high‑quality, child‑centred care in line with Ofsted standards and Children's Homes Regulations.
  • Promote the physical, emotional, and social well‑being of each young person.
  • Develop and deliver care plans, activities, and programmes that encourage independence and development.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, local authorities, therapists, and educational professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Manage budgets, rosters, and staffing to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operation.
  • Implement policies and safeguarding procedures to ensure the highest standards of safety and care.
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and empowerment within the home.
Requirements
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Previous experience as a Children's Home Manager, Deputy Manager, or Senior Residential Support Worker.
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, and the Quality Standards framework.
  • Proven leadership and people‑management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Compassionate, resilient, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for young people.
  • CPR and First Aid certification desirable.
