Job Summary

Part‑time Band 6 Physiotherapist (22.5 hrs/week) at Springbank Community Resource Centre, Springbank Way, Cheltenham GL51 0LH. The role supports the Children and Young People’s Physiotherapy team, covering children aged 0‑19 across a countywide service in schools, clinics, homes and the inpatient unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The post involves managing a clinical caseload in acute and community settings, providing supervision to Band 5 physiotherapists and support workers, and contributing to service development.

Main Duties

The post holder will:

  • Participate as a member of the Children and Young People’s Physiotherapy Team managing a clinical caseload within the acute and/or community setting.
  • Provide supervision for Band 5 physiotherapists and support workers.
  • Consolidate clinical experience, develop specialist practice and engage in continuing professional development.
  • Cover the Children’s Physio Direct telephone advice line on a rota basis.
  • Provide cover for annual leave, sickness absence and the multidisciplinary Rheumatology clinic at Cheltenham General Hospital (Mondays).
  • Work independently in various locations as required.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate, comprehensive and up‑to‑date clinical records in line with Trust guidance.
  • Produce patient‑related reports for other disciplines or agencies detailing assessment findings and treatment outcomes.
  • Follow local safeguarding and escalation policies.
  • Measure and evaluate own work through audit, outcome measurement, evidence‑based practice and research.
  • Identify and initiate audit projects to review current clinical practice.
  • Participate in data collection for audit purposes.
  • Attend clinics relevant to children’s physiotherapy management (orthotics, wheelchair assessment, orthopaedics, etc.).
  • Apply Trust and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy clinical guidelines and national standards.
  • Maintain compliance with mandatory training requirements.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Current registration with HCPC.
  • Demonstrated awareness of skills needed to supervise others.
  • Experience of supervising Band 5 physiotherapists or students.
  • Experience across a range of clinical areas as a Band 5 physiotherapist, with experience of children and young people as a student.
  • Desire to gain specialist skills in rheumatology and experience working with children and young people with rheumatological conditions.
  • Participated in service development as a Band 5 physiotherapist.
Desirable
  • Experience of working with children and young people as a Band 5 physiotherapist.
  • Post‑graduate clinical education.
  • Experience of supervising other staff or students as a Band 5 physiotherapist.
  • Experience of service development within a Children and Young People’s physiotherapy service.
