Child Health Supervisor

To assist the trust in delivering its agenda by supporting the team leader to deliver a high quality service in their areas of responsibility by providing an efficient and effective administrative service.

Monitoring of quality and performance of staff, and processes, taking action to correct any lapse of standards, in conjunction with the Team Leader

Manage the daily allocations of workloads for staff.

Ensuring that the needs of the service continue to be met in the absence of colleagues.

Providing training to staff on the current system and to ensure that staff can access the National Spine Portal & ensure accurate demographic, GP and School data is correctly entered into System One. To assist the Team Leader in the induction of new staff and to identify individual training needs and carry out training as required.

To set up and update as appropriate standard templates including letters and forms for use within the department.

Responsible for ensuring procedure manuals are kept up to date.

Main duties of the job

Manage annual leave requests for the department, in accordance with the departmental policy and rotas ensuring service level is maintained. To record any staff sickness or absence.

To ensure any faults or problems within the department e.g. computer/ electrical are reported immediately.

Carry out Appraisals in accordance with Trust Policy.

Ensure that confidentiality is always maintained.

To be responsible for ensuring staff work in a safe environment, both structurally and interpersonally

Carry out data quality checks daily.

To schedule & print Consent forms for all school-based immunisations

To manage the timely recording of all school-based immunisations.

To collect statistical data and assist the Team Leader with ad hoc audits and projects.

To liaise with GP's, Health Visitors, School Nursing & Immunisation Teams on a regular basis when dealing with appointments or queries.

To manage the retrieval of archived records

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
  • Educated to GCSE Maths & English or equivalent
  • IT skills - Word processing skills (Microsoft Word) up to RSA 2; spreadsheets & databases (Microsoft word) or equivalent
  • Knowledge of childhood immunisation programme
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation/ local groups
  • Develop contacts with external organisations
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
  • Experience of working in the NHS
