Job summary

Lincolnshire County Council seeks a Director of Public Health, a statutory chief officer and principal adviser on health to members, officers and partners. The post leads health improvement, health protection and healthcare public health and co-leads the Neighbourhood Health model with communities and voluntary sector.

It is a full-time role with flexible and remote working. The appointee must be registered on a UK public health register and will produce an independent annual health report.

Qualifications

• Registration on GMC Full and Specialist Register with licence to practise is required
• GMC/UKPHR or GDC where applicable as recognised licences
• Eligibility under NHS Regulations for appointment of consultants
• CCT or equivalent pathway with appropriate training
• CPD requirements to maintain/public health credentials

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and delivery of Lincolnshire's Neighbourhood Health model
• Act as system leader for improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities
• Serve as statutory chief officer and principal adviser on health matters to elected members and partners
• Discharge the council's duties to improve public health
• Lead public health protection and health improvement functions delegated by the Secretary of State
• Plan for and respond to emergencies affecting public health
• Co-operate with police and other services to assess risks from offenders
• Produce an independent annual health report for local communities
• Be a visible system leader within health and wellbeing partnerships
• Engage communities to tackle wider determinants of health and planetary health
• Inspire innovative solutions with councillors and government confidence

Education

Membership of the Faculty of Public Health (MFPH)

NHS (Appointment of Consultants) Regulations eligibility

Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)

Equivalence evidence for non-UK trained applicants

CPD requirements of the Faculty of Public Health or equivalent
