Job summary

Department for Business and Trade seeks a Head of Due Diligence and Investment Appraisal to provide strategic leadership for its specialist financial assessment function across grant and investment proposals. You will own standards, assurance and senior advice to support evidence-based funding decisions that protect public money while enabling economic growth.

Qualifications

Significant experience of investment appraisal, financial due diligence, corporate finance, financial viability assessment or equivalent senior financial assessment work.

Responsibilities

Set the strategic direction for DBIST’s due diligence and investment appraisal function.
Own and improve the assurance standards and operating model for Financial & Economic Assessment.
Provide senior professional judgement on financial viability and value-for-money issues.
Lead portfolio-level assurance and identify risks, quality issues and capability gaps.
Advise senior officials and Ministers on financial risks and assurance implications of proposals.
Ensure early engagement with policy, commercial, legal and delivery teams for integrated financial assessment.
