Senior Logistics Manager – Elstree and Letchmore Heath
Due to continued growth, Select Logistics are looking for a Senior Logistics Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working on major projects and excel at building solid stakeholder engagement. This role will build on experience gained through our Logistics community ensuring best practices are put in place and communicated to the central logistics team for sharing across the business. The role will support the Elstree and Letchmore Heath development, expanding the existing 400kV substation and constructing a new 400/132kV substation adjacent to Elstree.
Key Responsibilities
- Create major project logistics strategy documents, including site/factory set‑up mobilisation plans.
- Lead materials forecasting, flow development and reporting – plan the entry and exit of all material movements, including Delivery Management System.
- Develop freight profiles for transport across road, rail and shipping – forecast vehicle movements and quantities.
- Develop people forecasting, monitoring and reporting of the data.
- Support demand profiling for site temporary utilities.
- Support mobilisation, coordinating design, installation and handover to operational teams.
- Support construction logistics, particularly with Construction Consolidation Centres (CCC) and where possible nuclear, power or infrastructure projects.
- Apply strategic planning and project/programme management systems.
- Conduct data analysis on construction activities and plant movements.
- Ensure safety of vehicle loads and H&S standards for pedestrian access routes.
- Advocate sustainability best practice and champion innovation within the function.
- Demonstrate competent IT skills – MS Applications, delivery management systems, access control and telematics.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in major project logistics.
- Understanding of Construction Consolidation Centres (CCC).
- Experience in nuclear, power, or infrastructure contexts.
- Knowledge of critical transport set‑up on construction projects.
- Familiarity with strategic planning and project/programme management systems.
- Data analysis experience in construction activities and plant movements.
- Awareness of safety and H&S standards for vehicle loads and pedestrian access routes.
- Demonstrated ability to promote sustainability best practice.
- Strong IT skills – MS Applications, delivery management systems, access control and telematics.
- Member of CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport) preferred.
