Job description

DP World, the fast-growing transportation and logistics leader that currently manages more than 10% of world trade, is seeking a visionary commercial leader to shape and accelerate its strategic expansion in Romania and the Balkans (ideally located in Bucharest).

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Commercial Officer will drive the development and execution of the company’s commercial strategy, ensuring sustainable growth and market leadership. This position oversees all commercial functions, including Contract Logistics, Freight Forwarding and Ports & Terminals, ensuring cohesive direction, operational excellence, and a unified go-to-market approach.

The CCO will identify, assess, and advance growth opportunities both domestically and across the Balkans, focusing on market expansion and service diversification. As a strategic ambassador, the CCO will represent the company in engagements with authorities, key customers, contractors, and external stakeholders, strengthening partnerships and reinforcing the organization’s commercial presence in the region.

Your Responsibilities
Leadership & Division Management
  • Providing strategic leadership and oversight across all commercial divisions.
  • Ensuring full strategic alignment across all commercial functions to deliver on business objectives and growth ambitions.
  • Continuously monitoring divisional performance, providing regular updates to local, regional, and global leadership, and implementing corrective measures when required.
  • Leading the development and execution of sales strategies aimed at expanding the customer base, strengthening market presence, and increasing revenue.
  • Driving continuous improvement across customer service operations to enhance customer satisfaction, retention, and loyalty.
  • Collaborating closely with the Operations teams to ensure efficient, high-quality delivery of services and a seamless customer experience.
  • Introducing and championing processes and technologies that elevate the end-to-end customer journey.
  • Partnering with Sales and Marketing to design effective commercial campaigns and optimize go-to-market strategies.
Commercial Strategy & Business Planning
  • Developing and executing the company’s short- and long-term commercial strategy.
  • Identifying, assessing, and advancing opportunities to expand and optimize commercial activities across all segments.
  • Leading budget planning, resource allocation, and financial oversight for each commercial division to meet financial targets and drive cost optimization.
  • Setting and monitoring sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for Sales and Customer Service teams, ensuring high-performance standards aligned with business goals.
  • Conducting regular analysis of financial and operational performance across divisions to support data-driven decision making.
Market Development & Growth Initiatives
  • Identifying and evaluating new market opportunities both domestically and across the broader region, including market expansion and service diversification initiatives.
  • Assessing potential investment opportunities in logistics infrastructure and evaluating new geographic or business areas suitable for strategic partnerships.
  • Building and sustaining long-term commercial pathways for DP World’s continued regional growth.
Your Profile
  • Higher Education background in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum 10 years of successful commercial leadership experience within Freight Forwarding, Contract Logistics, port operations, end-to-end logistics.
  • Effective supply chain management experience, supported by a strong foundation in operations and contract management, with extensive commercial acumen, would be valuable.
  • Proven success in restructuring and optimizing commercial organizations, including integration of multiple business lines, would be highly valuable.
  • Advanced level of communication in English and Romanian, both verbally and in written.
  • Proficiency in working with the MS Office products as well as CRM systems.
  • B category driver’s license.
