Job Summary

Are you ready to take your Biomedical Science career to the next level in a stunning island setting? As Chief Biomedical Scientist in Histology, you will play a key role within the Pathology Department at Nobles Hospital on the beautiful Isle of Man.

Main Duties

The department is responsible for preparing histological and cytological material under specific standard operational procedures and for producing prepared slides for diagnosis of disease by one of our Consultant Pathologists. The department utilises the most up‑to‑date scientific methods, e.g. immunocytochemistry in conjunction with traditional methods.

  • Manage the Histology team including Biomedical Scientists and MLAs, devise rotas and monitor stock.
  • Ensure all procedures meet the requirements of ISO 15189 and any other relevant guidelines.
  • Maintain the competency of all staff members while contributing to daily bench work and workload by taking part in the rota yourself.
