Job summary

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Chief Aseptic Services Technician to lead the CIVAS and Parenteral Nutrition (PN) services. The post holder will provide operational leadership to the aseptic services team, ensuring safe, compliant preparation and supply of high‑risk injectables and outsourced nutrition.

Working with pharmacy, nursing and clinical colleagues, you will drive continuous improvement, develop the Pharmaceutical Quality System, and deliver service objectives

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead for the CIVAS & PN aseptic services, ensuring high quality, effective and efficient operations.
• Manage day-to-day operation of CIVAS & PN in collaboration with pharmacy and clinical teams.
• Ensure compliance with the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services (QAAPS) and NHS guidance.
• Lead, coach and develop the aseptic services staff.
• Contribute to CIVAS-based clinical trials and regulatory compliance.

Job description

We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Chief Aseptic Services Technician to lead our CIVAS and Parenteral Nutrition (PN) services. The Chief technician reports to the accountable pharmacist and is responsible for providing operational leadership to a the aseptic services team, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant preparation and supply of high-risk injectable medicines and outsourced nutrition. The post holder will play a key role in maintaining and developing the Pharmaceutical Quality System, driving continuous improvement, managing staff performance and development, and ensuring delivery of service objectives aligned with Trust priorities. Working closely with pharmacy, nursing and clinical colleagues, you will help shape the future of aseptic services while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, quality assurance and operational excellence.

• To act as the technical lead for the St Thomas’ CIVAS & PN technical team ensuring a high quality, effective and efficient aseptic services that meets the needs of patients and staff.
• To support the development and implementation of strategy for STH MCU on existing and new projects as they arise.
• To manage the day-to-day operation of STH CIVAS & PN working collaboratively with staff in the unit and wider pharmacy and clinical teams.
• To ensure the requirements of the quality management system are complied with and implemented as required by the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services (QAAPS), national and NHS guidance.
• To work with the Clinical Trials team in delivering CIVAS based clinical trials for GSTT and commercial sponsored trials to ensure full preparation and clinical regulatory compliance.
