Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited are seeking an experienced senior finance professional for a 6-month contract with a local authority in Chichester. You will lead the Chief Accountant's Team and oversee financial reporting, governance, and treasury management.

Hybrid working is available; the role focuses on delivering high-quality financial reporting, statutory compliance and governance for the Council.

Working hours are 37 per week. Location: County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ.

Qualifications

Extensive senior-level experience in finance or accounting within public sector.
Proven statutory accounts production and year-end reporting.
Fully qualified CCAB/CIMA with current membership.

Responsibilities

Direct and manage the Chief Accountant's Team to deliver essential financial services.
Supervise the management and enhancement of the Council's financial systems.
Lead the financial governance framework with robust controls and policies.
Develop and uphold financial regulations, delegation schemes and procedures.
Monitor government policy changes and advise senior stakeholders as needed.
Ensure timely completion of statutory financial reporting obligations.
