Job summary

EMEA Recruitment seeks a Chief Accountant for an international group in central London. This hands-on, standalone role owns day-to-day accounting for UK entities, including GL, AP/AR, payments and reconciliations, and leads month-end close.

You will prepare statutory accounts, coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors, and support SAP implementation while maintaining strong internal controls and UK GAAP/IFRS compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Accounting, Reporting, or Audit.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP or IFRS.
• Experience preparing statutory financial statements.
• Hands-on ERP experience, SAP strongly preferred.
• Comfortable working independently and with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

An international group is looking for a Chief Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting for its UK entities.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a hands-on, standalone role focused on accurate financial records, statutory reporting, SAP support, and audit coordination.

This role is based central London.

Key Responsibilities of the Chief Accountant:

• Own day-to-day Accounting, including GL, AP/AR, payments, and reconciliations
• Lead month-end and year-end close for UK entities
• Prepare standalone statutory accounts and support group reporting
• Act as main contact for external auditors and tax advisors
• Support SAP implementation, data migration, and system accuracy
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and internal controls
• 8+ years’ experience in Accounting, Reporting, or Audit
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP or IFRS
• Knowledge of IFRS 10
• Experience preparing statutory financial statements
