Job summary

A healthcare recruitment agency is seeking a qualified Nurse to lead patient care within the governance framework of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a degree or diploma in nursing and recent experience working with cancer patients, specifically in a specialized oncology unit. Responsibilities include implementing patient care plans and supervising staff. Full-time role based in Dundonald, Northern Ireland.

Qualifications

  • Registered with NMC or on Part 1 (Branch - Adult) of the NMC register.
  • Recent experience with cancer patients within the last 12 months.
  • Experience in a specialized haematology/oncology unit.
  • Experience in administration of chemotherapy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead under the guidance of the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse.
  • Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Ensure continuity of care within agreed standards.
  • Adhere to Trust guidelines and policies.
  • Contribute to the care of patients requiring chemotherapy.

Job description

The post holder will focus and lead under the direction of the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse ON key areas, within the organisation’s governance framework.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, develop, implement and evaluate patient / client care, under the guidance of the line manager.
  • Provide person-centred nursing to ensure continuity of care within agreed standards.
  • Adhere to Trust guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the Data Protection Act (1998).
  • Contribute to effective team working and supervise qualified and / or unqualified staff.
  • Comply with nursing strategy, trust policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and codes of conduct.
  • Contribute to the care of patients requiring administration of chemotherapy and/or supportive treatments.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree, Diploma or other nursing qualification allowing registration with NMC OR Registered on Part 1 (Branch - Adult) of the NMC register.
  • Evidence of good communication skills.
  • Recent experience in the last 12 months of working with patients diagnosed with cancer.
  • Experience of working in a specialised haematology/oncology unit.
  • Experience in administration of chemotherapy.
