Job summary

Almac Group in Craigavon invites applications for a Chemistry Placement Student. Working in the Chemistry team, you will develop chemical processes to support drug substance manufacture for toxicology, clinical trials and commercial supply.

You will perform practical chemistry and analysis projects under supervision and assist with day-to-day lab operations. Six placements across Peptide Chemistry, Physical Sciences Chemistry, Biocatalysis/Flow Chemistry, and Process Development Chemistry.

Qualifications

• MSci in Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry must be completed by end of this academic year.
• Strong academic record; desirable ≥60% in previous year.
• Previous laboratory experience in industry or academia is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out practical chemistry and analysis projects under supervision.
• Support day-to-day running of the chemistry labs.

Open To: Students Currently studying a Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry MSci degree, with successful completion of their third year by the end of this academic year.

Contract: This placement will run for 12 months, over the 2027/28 academic year

The Role

Working as part of the Chemistry team, based in our global headquarters in Craigavon, you will be responsible for the development of chemical processes to allow successful manufacture of drug substance to support toxicology, clinical trials, and commercial supply.

You will carry out assigned practical chemistry and analysis project work, under supervision, and will support the day to day running of the chemistry labs.

Essential Criteria

• Currently studying an MSci in Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry, with successful completion of their third year by the end of this academic year

Desirable Criteria

(The following criteria may be applied if a large pool of applicants exists)

• An overall result of ≥60% from your previous academic year


• Previous laboratory experience within industry or educational institution
