Overview

Palace International Ltd. (trading as Spectro | Jet-Care) has been at the forefront of condition monitoring services since 1976. Spectro | Jet-Care offers a comprehensive range of services – Oil, Hydraulic Fluid, Fuel, Debris, and Filter Analysis, and Engine Trend Monitoring by Gas Path Analysis (GPA) – developed to identify operational issues at the earliest possible stage. With nearly 50 years of experience and specialist knowledge, our partnership approach enables clients to monitor the condition of equipment clearly, accurately, and efficiently.

Due to continued success, growth, and new services, vacancies are available in our ISO 17025 accredited chemical laboratory at Odiham, Hampshire. These are permanent, full-time positions across all levels, ranging from opportunities for inexperienced, entry-level technicians to more senior chemists with technical backgrounds and commercial laboratory analytical experience. For the right candidates, there is scope for career development and advancement within the laboratory.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of chemical solvent and control/calibration of samples.
  • Preparation of test samples and sample testing.
  • Maintaining quality control checks.
  • Interpreting test results.
  • Maintaining good laboratory practices and assisting with general housekeeping duties.
  • Disposal of used chemicals and test samples.
  • For senior positions, reporting the results to Clients in line with Quality Assurance Standards.
Qualifications
  • Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated, with a willingness to learn, able to use initiative, and think independently.
  • For less senior positions: an interest in Chemistry; for more senior positions: a degree in a scientific discipline (normally Chemistry).
  • For senior positions: a technical background and analytical experience in the oil industry and commercial laboratories.
  • A careful and methodical worker who can work to deadlines.
  • Neat handwriting and a good standard of Maths and English.
  • PC literate with experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate with all levels of staff; for more senior positions, Clients.
  • Familiarity with and commitment to quality assurance.
Salary and Hours

Starting salaries range from £26,000 to £29,500 per annum, subject to skills, qualifications, and experience. Salaries are reviewed after successful completion of the probation period and yearly thereafter.

  • Working hours are based on a four-week rota:
  • Two weeks in four, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day with a one-hour unpaid lunch break); start and end times as agreed with the manager/supervisor.
  • One week in four includes a Saturday shift, typically 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break), with one day off in lieu during the same or following week.
  • One week in four includes a late shift, Monday to Friday, 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm (with a one-hour unpaid lunch break).
