Job Summary

A respected care home in Didcot is seeking an experienced and dependable Chef to lead its kitchen team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing nutritious, high‑quality meals to residents in a warm and supportive environment.

Role Overview

The Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations and manage a small team, including a Sous Chef and Kitchen Porter. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and cooking meals to meet dietary requirements
  • Ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained
  • Coordinating kitchen staff and managing service times
  • Supporting menu planning and stock control
Working Hours
  • Split shifts:
    • 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
    • 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
  • Flexibility may be required depending on service needs
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience in a professional kitchen
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (mandatory)
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs in care settings (preferred)
