Job summary

BaxterStorey is seeking a Relief Chef Manager in the Midlands Area to lead kitchen operations, plan menus, oversee food preparation and presentation, and manage wastage and portions. You will recruit and supervise kitchen staff, monitor stock, control costs, and ensure health and safety compliance, while developing innovative menus and maintaining excellent customer relations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience commensurate with role.
• Excellent creative culinary skills and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills.
• Proficiency in food cost management and budgeting.
• Knowledge of food safety and health and safety regulations.
• Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Own car essential (mileage paid).

Responsibilities

• Menu Planning and Execution - create and plan menus; oversee food prep and presentation, monitor wastage and portions.
• Employee Management - recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff; provide coaching and feedback.
• Inventory and Cost Control - monitor stock levels and manage orders cost-effectively.
• Customer Relations - engage with customers to understand catering needs and gather feedback.
• Health and Safety Compliance - support head chef to ensure safety and food safety compliance.
• Budget and Financial Management - develop and manage kitchen budgets and cost savings.
• Menu Development and Innovation - stay updated on culinary trends and implement ideas.
• Compliance and Documentation - maintain records and ensure regulatory compliance.
