Job summary

St Wilfrid's Hospice in Chichester is seeking an experienced Chef Manager to lead our catering team and oversee all kitchen operations, delivering fresh, nutritious meals for patients, visitors and staff.

You will manage menus, ordering, stock and budgets, ensure high standards of food hygiene and safety, and foster a collaborative, hands-on kitchen culture that supports quality patient care and staff wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience as Head Chef or Chef Manager in a leadership role.
• Strong team management and people development skills.
• Flexibility to work early and late shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a kitchen team.
• Plan, prepare and present fresh, nutritious meals.
• Manage day-to-day catering and special events.
• Oversee food ordering, stock control and budgeting.
• Minimise food waste and drive efficiency across the operation.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety standards.
• Create effective rotas and support day-to-day operations.
• Promote a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
