Job summary

International Schools Today seeks a Chef Manager for a prestigious independent school in Bedford. You will lead the catering operation, control stock, food and labour costs, and ensure high standards of food and service for students and staff.

You will recruit and develop staff, manage budgets, ensure compliance with health and safety, allergen labelling and Natasha's Law, and drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years in a similar role
• NVQ Level 2 Professional Cookery or Equivalent required
• Self-motivated and standards driven with a passion for fresh food
• Good numerical skills and ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written)
• Knowledge of health & safety and food safety management
• Ability to work on own initiative within a team environment and use MS Office

Responsibilities

• Having full control of the catering operation including stock, food, and labour cost
• Ensure consistency of food and service standards delivered to students and hospitality
• Catering school events held out of normal school hours
• Managing and improving all controllable costs in line with the budget
• Compile and report on monthly budget accounts
• Maintaining all systems, procedures and legislation
• Adhere to labelling guidelines, allergen information and Natasha’s Law
• Carry out regular audits to ensure standards are met
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Fire policies
• Recruit, manage and develop all staff
