Job summary

A catering solutions provider is seeking a temporary Head Chef to lead the kitchen at Rendlesham Primary School. You will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for approximately 150 covers daily and ensuring that kitchen operations meet health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Chef or Head of Kitchen, possess a Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate, and be flexible to cover short-term assignments. This role offers working hours of 08:30 to 13:30 from Monday to Friday at a pay rate of £16.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • Previous experience as a Chef or Head of Kitchen in a busy environment.
  • Flexibility to cover temporary assignments.

Role Purpose

To lead the kitchen temporarily, preparing and delivering high-quality meals for approximately 150 covers per day, ensuring both hot and cold food service runs smoothly. The Chef will supervise two Food Service Assistants on site and maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals for approximately 150 covers per day
  • Deliver both hot and cold food service efficiently
  • Supervise and support two Food Service Assistants on site
  • Ensure kitchen operations comply with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Assist with menu planning and portion control
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management
  • Follow all school or site-specific procedures and policies
Requirements
