Chef - Lead with Passion, Cook with Purpose!

Location: Reed's School, Sandy Lane, Cobham, KT11 2ES

Salary: £14.00 - £15.50

Hours: 40 hours per week

Working Pattern: 5 days out of 7 (38 weeks per year)

Term Time Only

Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks, and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts every month. Further information will be supplied at the interview stage.

As a Chef de Partie for Sodexo, you’ll work to ensure you provide culinary excellence across your business area including brand integrity, quality, compliance, Sodexo’s corporate social responsibility and food and service standards.

What You’ll Do:
  • Assist Head, Sous and Deputy Head Chefs in the preparation of the menus.
  • Ensure all statutory regulations in respect of Health and Safety, Personnel and Kitchen are maintained.
  • Maintain standards of food production and food presentation.
  • Organise and assist in the planning, production and presentation of meals to the standard laid down in the Service Level Agreement.
  • Assist in pre-service briefing of colleagues with regard to dish content, allergens, portion sizes, service utensils and accompaniments.
  • Take full responsibility for kitchen staff and food production across all services when the Head Chef or Sous Chef is absent.
  • Prepare and/or serve at any special function which may be held outside normal working hours.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Carry out any reasonable request of the Management, Head Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Assist with maintaining standards in the kitchen.
  • Maintain a high standard of dress and behaviour at all times.
  • Ensure cleaning rotas are adhered to.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Food and Safety Act 1990 are adhered to.
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings.
What You Bring:
Essential:
  • Demonstrate experience of working in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level in a company.
  • Good numerical and communication skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication.
  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment.
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge of food allergens.
  • Proven experience in catering sector, including stock management and customer service.
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards.
  • Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions.
Desirable:
  • Proven experience of managing client relationships.
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team.
