Job summary

Holroyd Howe is hiring a Chef de Partie / Commis Chef to work at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham. The role involves supporting a high-volume kitchen providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, with responsibilities across food preparation, service, and cost control.

You will collaborate with the culinary team to craft dishes, maintain high presentation standards, and ensure strict food safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role within contract catering or educational setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, production, and service.
  • Ensure the quality and presentation of all dishes meet the company's standards and client expectations.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, considering dietary restrictions and seasonal ingredients.
  • Oversee stock control and ordering to maintain inventory levels while minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with the catering team to execute events and themed dinners.
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen following health and safety regulations.
  • Support the Head Chef in administrative tasks such as scheduling and budgeting.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and culinary techniques to enhance menus.
  • Foster a positive working environment with leadership and teamwork.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef de Partie / Commis Chef with a background in exceptional food catering services to join our business and work at one of our highly prestigious education settings.

Nestled in the heart of Birmingham, this prestigious independent school ,Elmhurst Ballet School caters for 250 students and staff and includes not only a breakfast, lunch and supper service but also an extensive hospitality service. This operates 7days a week.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Chef de Partie / Commis Chef to make a name for themselves within our contract catering company and be a part of setting the new standard for education catering.

Job Description

As a Chef de Partie / Commis Chefyou will Collaborate with our culinary team to craft flavourful dishes that nourish both body and mind

As well as having an excellent presentation, organisational and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion for food & service and possess bags of enthusiasm.

  • Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, production, and service.

  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, kitchen assistants, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients.
