Job summary

Medirest, part of Compass Group UK&I, is recruiting a dedicated Chef/Cook on a zero-hours basis to support healthcare operations in a casual, on-site setting. The role focuses on delivering high-quality food while adhering to safety standards and brand guidelines.

You will oversee menus, supervise a team, manage inventories, and respond to client feedback to continually enhance the dining experience. This position offers flexible shifts within a large hospital/care setting.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising a team in a kitchen environment.
• Proven chef experience in a similar role.
• Hold a Food Hygiene certificate.
• Must have City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality, appealing meals for clients and customers.
• Oversee and implement menu changes.
• Identify opportunities to improve food services.
• Listen to customer feedback and drive continuous improvement.
• Support creation of new menus and creative concepts.
• Represent the Defence sector and maintain a positive brand image.
• Monitor inventories to keep kitchens well-stocked.
• Oversee kitchen cleaning to maintain hygiene standards.
• Comply with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.

Job description

We're currently recruiting a dedicated Chef/Cook (Zero Hours) to help ensure the smooth running of the operations in Healthcare on a permanent casual basis, contracted to 0 hours per week.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Preparing delicious, high-quality food that delights our clients and customers
• Overseeing and implementing menu changes
• Identifying opportunities to improve our food services
• Listening and acting on customer feedback to consistently improve our food services
• Supporting with the creation of new menus and creative food concepts
• Representing Defence and maintaining a positive brand image
• Monitoring inventories to keep our kitchens well-stocked
• Overseeing kitchen cleaning responsibilities to maintain hygiene standards
• Complying with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations

• Be passionate about great-tasting food and exceptional customer service
• Hold a City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent
