Shaw healthcare is seeking a Chef for Cartref Care Home in Hay-on-Wye. The role is bank work (0 hours) as/when needed in service, including weekends, with shift times 7am-2:30pm. You will prepare meals and contribute to a caring, high-quality dining experience for residents.

The position supports dietary and cultural needs, with opportunities to lead a catering team and help deliver exceptional care through nutritious, well-balanced menus.

Qualifications

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan menus accommodating dietary and cultural needs.
• Lead and support catering team.
• Order stock within budget using approved suppliers.
• Maintain HACCP-compliant food safety records.
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness and hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and serving fresh, high-quality meals for residents.
• Planning varied, nutritious menus that cater for dietary, cultural and individual preferences.
• Supporting celebrations, themed events and special occasions with delicious catering.
• Ordering stock within budget and company guidelines using approved suppliers.
• Maintaining accurate food safety records in line with HACCP requirements.
• Ensuring the kitchen consistently meets high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, following all procedures.
• Leading, motivating and supporting members of the catering team.
