Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a passionate Bank Chef to support our kitchen teams with fresh, seasonal menus and high standards of care. This role focuses on quality food, balanced nutrition and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for residents.

You will assist in covering the Head Chef, manage stock and costs, and help deliver delicious meals that meet individual needs while maintaining HACCP compliance.

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach with residents' wellbeing in mind.
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Experience leading and inspiring a team.
• Good understanding of nutrition and dietary needs.
• Experience working with fresh seasonal food.
• Ability to create a warm, welcoming environment in the home.
• Good understanding of HACCP and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Prepare and serve high-quality dishes using fresh produce.
• Create a warm, efficient and enjoyable kitchen environment.
• Work within budget and costs.
• Complete regular audits and stock control.
• Assist in leading and motivating a team of kitchen staff.

Job description

Are you a qualified chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work life balance and make what you do matter?

This is a casual, part-time role offering flexible working. Working as a Bank Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them.
