Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a passionate chef to bring fresh seasonal dishes to our residents, balancing quality with a healthier work-life balance. This casual, part-time Bank Chef role focuses on delivering hotel/restaurant standards without long shifts, supporting the Head Chef and teams.

You will work with residents to tailor menus, oversee stock, budgets, audits and training, and contribute to a warm, efficient kitchen environment across our residential care settings.

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach with residents' wellbeing in mind.
• NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.
• Experience leading and inspiring a kitchen team.
• Good understanding of nutrition in menu planning.
• Experience working with fresh seasonal produce.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Chef in absence.
• Prepare and deliver high-quality, wholesome dishes from fresh produce.
• Foster a warm, efficient and enjoyable kitchen environment.
• Work within kitchen budgets and cost controls.
• Complete regular audits and maintain standards.

Are you a qualified chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work life balance and make what you do matter?

This is a casual, part-time role offering flexible working. Working as a Bank Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. NEED TO HAVE

• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
