Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Chef at HMP Altcourse to supervise and coach prisoners in producing 1200+ meals daily, across three daily services. The role focuses on food safety, hygiene, and allergen awareness, with responsibilities for cleaning, stock rotation and health and safety practices.

Ideal candidates hold City and Guilds 706/1/2 or NVQ Level 1/2 in food production and cooking, with industrial catering experience and a willingness to work in a correctional environment.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ Level 1/2 in food production and cooking required.
• Industrial catering experience desirable.
• Experience instructing/supporting people with challenging behaviour preferred.

Job description

As a Chef at HMP Altcourse, you'll play a crucial role in supervising and coaching prisoners in the production of 1200 plus meals 3 times a day.

You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene, allergen awareness. Your commitment to overseeing cleaning procedures, stock rotation, and adherence to Health & Safety procedures will not only impact the daily operations of the kitchen but will also foster a positive and secure environment.

Salary : £29,806.40 Per Annum

Working hours : 40 hours per week

The Ideal Candidate:

• You will need City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ Level 1 and 2 in food production and cooking.
• Some industrial catering experience is desirable but not necessary.
• It would be advantageous if you have experience instructing/supporting people with challenging behaviour.
• Experience in a prison or forces environment is desirable but not necessary.
