Job summary

Compass Group UK&I is hiring a Chef (Zero Hours) at Yarnfield Park, Staffordshire. You will prepare, produce and serve high quality dishes while following health, safety and food hygiene policies.

The role is zero hours with a wage of £13.45 per hour and a range of benefits including healthcare, meals on duty, life assurance and ongoing training. City & Guilds 706/1/706/2, NVQ Level 2 and at least 1 year of relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 Catering qualifications required.
• NVQ Level 2 and Basic Food Hygiene Level 2 required.
• Minimum 1 year relevant experience and IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• To prepare, produce and serve high quality dishes.
• To prepare fresh food items for use in dishes.
• To follow recipes to company standard to ensure allergen report is correct.
• To monitor portion size and wastage.
• To work in a safe manner to ensure safety of yourself and others.
• To communicate effectively with the front of house team to ensure successful service periods.
• To work 'front of house' on the servery as required.
• To adhere to all training/guidelines for health & safety, food handling, COSHH, uniform standards, PPE, manual handling and fire regulations.
• To ensure all displays and counters comply with health and hygiene requirements including food information regulations.
• To complete and update all food safety and health & safety paperwork correctly during your shift.
• To be responsible for cleanliness of the kitchen during and at end of shift, reporting hazards to a senior team member.
• To demonstrate a can-do attitude towards customer requests and strive to exceed expectations.
• To complete all compulsory training as requested by a senior member of the team.
• To follow profit protection procedures and report issues to your line manager.
• To assist with stocktaking as requested.
• To ensure all team members are treated with respect.
• To be flexible and comply with reasonable requests including working within other units.

Purpose of Role...

To work in the kitchen ensuring the production of high-quality food and following of all legal requirements in line with contractual obligations and company expectations ensuring the delivery of excellent food and following of all health & safety and food safety requirements at all times.

Chef (Zero Hours) - The Role

• To prepare, produce and serve high quality dishes
• To prepare fresh food items for use in dishes
• To follow recipes to company standard to ensure the allergen report is correct
• To monitor portion size and wastage
• To work in a safe manner to ensure safety of yourself and others
• To communicate effectively with the front of house team to ensure successful service periods
• To work 'front of house' on the servery as required
• To communicate with guests in a professional manner
• To adhere to all training / guidelines given for the following policies and procedures: health & safety, food handling, COSHH, uniform standards, personal protective equipment, manual handling and fire regulations
• To ensure all displays and counters comply with company and statutory health and hygiene requirements including food information regulations
• To complete and update all food safety and health & safety paperwork correctly during your shift to ensure full compliance
• To be responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen during and at the end of your shift, ensuring Health and Safety hazards, issues, near misses and accidents are reported to a senior member of the team at the earliest opportunity
• To demonstrate a can-do attitude towards individual customer requests and strive to exceed customer expectations
• To complete all compulsory training as requested by a senior member of the team
• To follow all company and unit profit protection procedures, reporting any issues to your line manager
• To assist with stocktaking as requested
• To ensure all team members are treated with respect
• To be flexible and comply with any reasonable requests made by your line Manager including if necessary, working within other units within reasonable distance
• To be able to self-supervise when working alone and to ensure all safety guidelines are upheld

• Competent in the English language, both written and verbal
• Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive attitude
• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 Catering
• NVQ Level 2
• Basic food hygiene level 2
• Minimum 1 years relevant experience
• Experience within a similar role
• IT literate
