Job summary

Active Care Group is hiring a part-time Chef at The Laurels in Lincoln. The role covers 18 hours per week with a pro rata salary based on the £26,718.07 FTE. You will prepare meals, review menus for special diets, and ensure nutritious options for residents and staff.

Required NVQ level 3 in catering, Level 3 food hygiene, and COSHH; knowledge of IDDSI and allergens is essential. Budget management and team collaboration are important to succeed.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 in catering, Level 3 food hygiene, COSHH training, IDDSI knowledge, allergen awareness and modified diets.
• Experience with managing budgets and stock control in a catering setting.
• Ability to work flexibly in a multi-site care environment and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve high-standard meals suitable for residents, staff and visitors.
• Review menus regularly to meet dietary needs including special diets and allergies.
• Communicate clearly with residents and staff to ensure balanced, appealing, nutritious meals.
• Develop a positive team relationship with residents and staff and be integral to the home.
• Assist with ordering, controlling and reviewing raw materials, labour, equipment and costs within budget.

We're committed to helping every person we support feel safe, happy, and empowered, enabling them to live the best life possible.**Must have Knowledge and practical skills of IDDSI levels.****What you'll be working:*** Every other weekend* Part-time - 18 hours* £26,718.07 (FTE) Per annum (Pro rata)**What you'll be doing:*** Prepare, cook and serve food of the highest standards and which is appropriate to and meets the needs of the residents, staff and visitors* Regularly review the menus in line with residents, staff and visitors' requirements, including the provision of special diets (with respect to allergies, other health-related issues and cultural reasons)* Communicate effectively with residents, staff and visitors to ensure the provision of relevant, appealing, balanced and healthy diets* Develop a positive relationship with all residents, staff and other visitors to the home by becoming an integral part of the team* Support with the effective ordering, control and review of raw materials, labour, equipment and supplies and keeping costs in line with agreed budgets and value for money**What you'll have:*** NVQ level 3 or above in catering* Level 3 food hygiene certificate* Cossh* Allergen trained or a good understanding of allergies and how they affect people* Knowledge and practical skills in modified diets, especially IDDSI* Ability to work with catering budgets* Must be creative and able to demonstrate flair* Willing to bake cakes and pastries* Experience in documentation to demonstrate safety within the catering environment.* Be able to maintain and run a kitchen efficiently to a high standard* Excellent knowledge of food hygiene and food preparation* A positive attitude and a desire to deliver the best possible service to patients in our care.* Flexible, professional, and positive approach to multi-site working.* Proven reliability in terms of full attendance and timekeeping.* Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual.We also want to ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided with reasonable accommodations to participate in job applications or interviews and perform essential job functions.
