Job summary

School Chef – Temporary Ongoing Role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable School Chef to join a friendly school environment in the Ipswich area. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for around 50 children each day.

• Contract: Temporary ongoing
• Pay: £14 - £15/h

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals in line with school guidelines and dietary needs
• Plan menus and manage kitchen stock efficiently
• Maintain excellent food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen control standards
• Work independently to deliver meals on time
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with regulations

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS Certificate (essential)
• Previous experience as a chef or cook (preferably in a school or similar environment)
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety procedures
• Understanding of dietary requirements and allergen management
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude
