Job summary

Henderson Group Garvagh is seeking a Chef to lead our busy kitchen, producing high-quality fresh food to meet central recipes and menus while upholding food safety and high-volume standards.

You'll allocate tasks, supervise staff, and maintain cost awareness, working 42.5 hours per week with flexibility. Applicants should have food safety qualification and catering experience, with a passion for quality ingredients.

Qualifications

  • Food Safety Qualification.
  • Experience in catering or hospitality kitchen environment.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to deliver on KPIs such as sales, costs and profitability.
  • You must be aged 18 years or over.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality fresh food.
  • Allocate tasks to the team to ensure smooth kitchen operation.
  • Use high-spec kitchen tools to produce high-quality dishes.
  • Operate within food safety, health & safety and trading standards regulations.
  • Maintain quality and consistency in production within budget and ethos.
  • Communicate effectively with on-shift contacts for handovers.
  • Supervise and motivate staff to reach their potential.
  • Manage production lines and identify market trends and opportunities.
  • Lead by example with high standards and safe practices.

A look into the role

Working within a fast-paced kitchen environment, the Chef will apply methodical organisational skills, energy and attention to detail to lead our production of centrally developed recipes and menus ensuring food safety and high-quality meals at high volume.

You will understand the requirements of working in a professional kitchen environment and have a flair and enthusiasm for cooking with fresh quality ingredients.

As Chef you will:
  • Preparing consistently high-quality fresh food.
  • Allocate tasks to your team to ensure the smooth and efficient organisation and running of the kitchen.
  • Use high specification kitchen tools and equipment correctly to produce consistently high quality dishes.
  • Operate within all regulations, legislation and procedural requirements, with regards to food safety, health & safety, and trading standards.
  • Maintaining quality and consistency in food production by using resources in line with organisations' financial constraints, style, specifications and ethos.
  • Effectively communicate with other key contacts to ensure effective working on shift, effective handovers etc.
  • Supervise and motivate employees to achieve their maximum potential.
  • Managing the commerciality of production lines and identifying market trends & commercial opportunities.
  • Lead by example at all times, ensuring that high standards and safe working practices are adhered to.
Skills for Success

Joining us as Chef, the minimum criteria you'll need is:

  • Food Safety Qualification.
  • Previous experience working in a catering and /or hospitality kitchen environment.
  • Commercial Awareness, and ability to deliver on Key Performance Indicators such as sales, costs and profitability.
  • You must be aged 18 years or over (for store legislative requirements).
The attributes you'll need include:
  • A flair and enthusiasm for cooking with fresh quality ingredients.
  • Strong focus on people with an ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Ability to deliver at pace, while ensuring the highest quality of food.
If is desirable if you had:
  • Experience working in a Fresh Food Production Kitchen.
  • Previous Supervisory Experience
  • Previous Experience working to budgets and/or targets.
