Join our dynamic catering team at the College, where we are committed to delivering high-quality, nutritious, and innovative food services. We are looking for a skilled Chef who is passionate about food preparation and presentation, adhering to health and safety standards, and contributing creatively to our menu offerings.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen and back of house areas.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and safe to use.
  • Regularly check inventory levels and the quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Cook healthy and nutritious dishes in accordance with our established menus.
  • Adapt recipes to cater for special dietary requirements as needed.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, due diligence records, and key tasks during your shift.
  • Comply with all statutory and organisational requirements including Health and Safety, Food Safety, and Fire Safety.
  • Minimise wastage and ensure that wastage recording procedures are followed.
  • Handle deliveries and report any issues to the Manager or Supervisor on duty.
  • Maintain and report any kitchen equipment maintenance issues.
  • Keep up-to-date with mandatory and CPD training.
  • Adhere to the College's standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Execute management team requests and instructions efficiently.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role within food production operations.
  • Level 3 Food Safety certificate (desirable).
  • First Aid certificate (desirable).
  • Awareness of environmental impacts related to the catering industry (desirable).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff.
  • Capable of working under pressure and maintaining composure during busy periods.
  • Experience in menu planning and food service development (desirable).
