Job summary

Fleet Valley Care Home on the edge of Gatehouse of Fleet is seeking a Chef to deliver high quality, nutritious meals that support residents' wellbeing.

You will own food preparation and service, tailor meals to dietary needs, maintain hygiene and food safety, and contribute to kitchen organisation and menu planning. The role offers a consistent pattern with no late evenings or split shifts, with ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent, or working towards.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Experience in a professional kitchen environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A positive and reliable approach.

Job description

Fleet Valley Care Home, located on the edge of the charming rural town of Gatehouse of Fleet, is thoughtfully designed to support small group living and a true sense of community. We provide high-quality nursing care and comfortable accommodation for up to 43 residents, all within a warm and supportive environment that feels like home. Chef Contract

• £12.94 per hour
• Contracted to 20 hours per week
• Paid PVG, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As a Chef, you will deliver high quality, nutritious and enjoyable meals that are a key part of daily life. This is a role where your cooking has real impact, bringing comfort, routine and enjoyment while supporting overall wellbeing.

You will take ownership of food preparation and service, ensuring meals are tailored to individual dietary needs, preferences and nutritional requirements. Maintaining high standards of presentation, hygiene and food safety, you will consistently deliver meals that residents look forward to each day.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will contribute to menu planning, kitchen organisation and smooth day to day service. With no late evenings or split shifts, this role offers a strong work life balance while still allowing you to take pride in producing high quality food in a rewarding environment.
