Job description

We Are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Chef to join the Facilities team at the Marie Curie Hospice. This role is central to delivering high-quality, nutritious meals for patients, staff, volunteers, and visitors, while ensuring food safety, hygiene, and a caring service environment.

Main duties of the job

This role requires a strong focus on food safety and hygiene to ensure all meals meet our high standards. The successful candidate will significantly contribute to the well-being and comfort of everyone at the hospice through their culinary skills and meticulous attention to detail. Job responsibilities

Salary:Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 3 (aligned with AFC) £12.94 - £13.80 per hour, plus enhancements

What we are looking for:

• Excellent cooking skills and the ability to plan and prepare varied menus.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with a caring and flexible approach.
• Experience in catering and supervising staff, ideally within a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
• Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or NVQ Level 2 in Food Production and Cooking.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2, or a Level 2 NVQ in Food Production and Cooking, or an equivalent qualification
• Basic food hygiene certificate
• NVQ level 3 or prepared to work towards it

Experience

• Relevant catering experience
• Experience of supervising staff
• Experience in working in a health care setting
