Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking a Temporary Works Engineer to support a diverse portfolio of water, rail, aviation and data centre projects. You will lead coordination, assurance and compliance, ensuring safe design and implementation in line with BS5975, with regular travel across London and the South East.

Role offers strong technical scope and autonomy within a supportive engineering culture, with opportunities for progression. Based in West London with site travel to multiple live schemes.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership via ICE or IStructE.
• Strong experience in temporary works engineering within civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of BS5975, temporary works processes and design assurance.
• Experience in water treatment, rail infrastructure, aviation structures, or data centre builds.
• Knowledge of reinforced concrete, groundworks, structures, formwork, falsework or enabling works.
• Clear communicator with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering.
• CSCS card and full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead temporary works coordination, assurance and compliance across multiple live schemes.
• Review drawings, calculations and method statements, resolving queries with designers and subcontractors.
• Drive safe, efficient temporary works delivery with site engineers and project teams.
• Conduct inspections, maintain registers and ensure BS5975 compliance.
• Prepare design briefs, permits and assurance documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to site teams on safe installation, adaptation and removal of temporary works.
• Travel to sites across London and the South East as required.
