Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Team Leader in Structural Engineering to head a Birmingham-based team, ensuring project delivery from concept to completion, and mentoring engineers to support growth. The role requires Chartered status and extensive UK consultancy experience to drive high-quality, compliant design across a varied portfolio.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE) or equivalent status.
• Extensive UK structural engineering consultancy experience.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry design.
• Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations and Eurocodes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of structural engineers and technicians with technical direction.
• Oversee delivery of multiple projects from concept through to completion.
• Ensure quality and compliance with UK standards and Building Regulations.
• Manage programmes, resources, budgets and deliverables.
• Maintain client relationships and coordinate with architects and contractors.
• Represent the business at client meetings and design reviews.
• Support business development and mentoring of engineers.
• Promote collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and drive improvements.
