Job summary

Walk Wheel Cycle Trust is seeking a Solicitor to provide clear legal advice across property, governance and commercial contracts. You will draft, review and negotiate documents, support risk management and help progress projects with internal teams and external partners.

You'll work autonomously, mentor a paralegal, and contribute to safeguarding and compliance while helping the charity achieve its social objectives by developing partnerships and securing funding.

Qualifications

• Qualified and practising solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (FILEX level) with significant experience in one or more relevant areas of law, likely gained through in‑house practice.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify practical, solution‑focused outcomes.
• Ability to work autonomously on a wide variety of cases with conflicting deadlines.
• Ability to supervise and mentor a paralegal and other colleagues as required.
• Ability to promote safety and wellbeing of vulnerable groups in decision making.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on commercial, property, governance and planning matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate legal documents, including contracts, grant agreements, and land/property agreements.
• Maintain legal templates and support colleagues to use them confidently.
• Share legal knowledge and promote good practice across the charity.
• Support the charity to meet legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Work with teams across the organisation to identify and manage legal risks.
