Job summary

Biffa Waste Services in Milton Keynes is seeking a skilled HGV Chargehand Technician to maintain and repair our fleet at the Milton Keynes Depot. You will be responsible for scheduled preventative maintenance to meet DVSA requirements and operator’s licence commitments, spanning a range from vans to 44t assets.

The role requires Level 3 HGV/PSV apprenticeship or equivalent and a valid driving licence; HGV licence and IRTEC considered desirable.

Qualifications

• Fully skilled with Level 3 HGV/PSV apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Technician level certification required.
• Must hold car/van driving licence; HGV licence desirable.
• IRTEC qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair vehicles and waste management equipment to meet health and safety legislation and DVSA requirements.
• Carry out scheduled preventative service and maintenance inspections to meet operator’s licence commitments.
• Work across a fleet from light vans to 44t articulated assets, with learning opportunities across a diverse range of equipment.

HGV Chargehand Technician

Biffa Waste - Milton Keynes Depot
Salary: £22.88p/h

Shift: 5am-2pm and 10am-7pm

You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of vehicles and waste management handling equipment to meet health and safety legislation and DVSA requirements.

You will also carry out scheduled preventative service and maintenance inspections to meet Biffa’s operator’s licence commitments. Our fleet ranges from light commercial vans all the way up to 44t articulated specialist assets, a real diverse fleet giving plenty of opportunity to learn and develop your existing technical knowledge.

• Fully skilled having achieved a full level 3 HGV / PSV apprentice qualification/City and Guilds Qualification/NVQ Qualification.
