We have a permanent Sister or Charge Nurse role within our busy Critical Care Unit, this is a fantastic opportunity for current Band 5 Nurse to take the next step in their career.

Main duties of the job

As an expert Critical Care Nurse with the appropriate skills to effectively manage the Critical Care Unit on a daily basis, you will also be responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing, delivering and evaluating, skilled practical patient cantered care to the critically ill patients and their families.

As a committed and motivated individual who wishes to develop their career within Critical Care, you will be encouraged to pursue your educational needs that will be guided by our Practice Educator and supported by an individualized development pathway. This bespoke package will include the opportunity to achieve leadership skills in order to further develop your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Adult/Child/Mental Health) with current NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and up-to-date portfolio
  • Teaching, assessing, or mentorship qualification (e.g., ENB 998, Mentorship Module, Practice Assessor)
Knowledge and Skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practice and national guidance (e.g. NICE, NSF)
  • Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and risk management processes
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and patient safety standards
  • Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to coordinate safe admission, transfer, and discharge planning
