Location or Commutable from: Northampton

Shift: Mon - Thurs 7:30am - 4:30pm Fri 7:30am - 2:30pm

Pay Rate / Salary: £16 - £17 Per Hour

The Company

A Northampton-based manufacturing specialist, proud of its supportive work culture and focus on staff development. The company is looking for an experienced Charge Hand MIG Welder to join their team.

The Job Role Position

Due to production growth, the company is recruiting a Charge Hand MIG Welder to supervise and support the welding team. The ideal candidate will have experience leading multiple MIG welders on shift and be confident to weld themselves when needed to meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee a team of 5-10 MIG welders on the production floor
  • Ensure all welding work follows drawings, specifications, and welding procedures
  • Check welds for defects, correct joint preparation, and proper penetration
  • Perform visual inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Step in to weld when required to maintain smooth production and meet deadlines
The Candidate
  • Proven supervisory experience in manufacturing (welding experience desirable)
  • Proven experience as a MIG Welder in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding specifications
  • Confident working with mild steel of various thicknesses
  • Knowledge of welding standards, tolerances, and inspection methods
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills
Licence / Certification Required
  • Valid UK Driving Licence (Desirable due to location)
  • Welding certification (as relevant to candidate experience)
