The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) plays a vital role in keeping Britain’s roads safe and efficient. We are responsible for the registration and licensing of drivers in Great Britain and vehicles across the UK, as well as the collection and enforcement of Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). Our work ensures that only qualified drivers and correctly taxed vehicles are on the road.

Our key responsibilities include issuing photocard driving licences and vehicle registration certificates, recording driver endorsements and medical conditions, and taking enforcement action against tax evaders. We also register and issue tachograph cards, sell personalised registrations, and support law enforcement by providing crucial data to police and intelligence services. In addition, we offer anonymised data services to authorised users, helping inform public and private sector decision-making.

This role will support Senior Finance Managers in the effective delivery of tasks and high quality customer services.

You will work as part of a small, dynamic strategic change approvals team, offering an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the wider change governance and assurance function within DVLA. The role involves engaging with key stakeholders across the Agency, up to and including Board level and supporting the wider change community by providing advice and guidance in the development of change approval documentation (including business cases).

You will coordinate key activities and conduct quality checks to ensure timely submissions in line with Agency Change Governance processes and best practice guidance.

This is an exciting team to join, offering exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and the opportunity to build strong working relationships across DVLA. You will gain valuable insight into how strategic change is governed and approved within a major government agency, working alongside senior leaders and facilitating decisions at Board level.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Providing a comprehensive support and advice service to business areas, customers and stakeholders.
  • Acting as Subject Matter Expert for team activities and the relevant standards, legislation and best practice.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders ensuring appropriate governance/guidance is adhered to.
  • Carrying out quality checks and manage submission of documentation to meet fixed timescales.
  • Managing query resolutions and escalation processes, providing advice and interpretation where needed.
