Job description
Good things this way

If you are a driven, high‑performer who enjoys solving problems and learning new skills, our 18‑month Change Development Programme (CDP) provides a clear pathway into a rewarding career in banking.

You’ll build skills and experience in Business Analysis, Project Management or within our Portfolio Management Office, giving you the tools and experience to lead change that matters.

We spend over £600m each year introducing new products and services, simplifying our IT infrastructure, complying with new legislation and regulations, and developing innovative new technology.

We don’t have shareholders, which means you’ll be delivering change that impacts on customers, communities and society.

Business Analyst

As a Business Analyst, you will play an essential role in identifying and delivering change that drives positive and demonstrable value to our customers and colleagues across Nationwide. You’ll bridge the gap between our stakeholders and technical experts, creating positive change. In this role you will:

  • Assess business opportunities, identifying and enabling prioritisation of valuable change from strategies and roadmaps.
  • Define the scope and deliverables of initiatives, ensuring a common understanding across operations and change teams.
  • Work across the change lifecycle to provide best‑in‑class solutions to support the delivery flow of change programmes and initiatives using Nationwide tools, guardrails, patterns, methods, and controls.
  • Ensure traceability of the delivery of value and enable the embedding of business change.
Where you’ll be working

Our Chief Operating Office (COO) is more than technology; it’s the engine behind Nationwide’s transformation into a modern mutual. It’s where strategy meets delivery, and where technology helps us serve our customers better every day.

What you’ll be doing

During your 18‑month programme you will work across a range of change initiatives varying in size, scale, and complexity. You’ll gain exposure to different delivery methodologies and concepts, development opportunities and industry‑wide (Business Analyst & Project Manager) certifications including the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) and the BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis. Our Change Development Programme will have two intakes, 1 st June and 7 th September 2026. You’ll be asked to select your intake preference when applying.

Location

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK‑wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, based at our Swindon office.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

About you

We’re looking for ambitious, purpose‑driven candidates who want to build a career in Change. You’ll have a determination to push for better and a focus on delivering for our 16 million members. Whether you’re a recent graduate, returning to work, or changing careers, we’re interested in your potential.

What we look for
  • Enthusiasm for solving problems and learning in a dynamic, evolving space
  • A growth mindset and a clear ambition to develop professionally
  • A methodical approach to work, with strong attention to detail and awareness of the bigger picture
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Resilience and tenacity, with the ability to learn from both successes and setbacks
  • A positive attitude and the motivation to make a difference to customers, communities and society
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and engage confidently with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Our customer first behaviours
  • Feel what customers feel – We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind.
  • Say it straight – We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand.
  • Push for better – We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development.
  • Get it done – We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes.
The extras you’ll get
  • 25 days holiday per year, which increases over time to 30. You can also buy up to 10 extra days each year.
  • From January 2026, all colleagues will benefit from private medical insurance.
  • A highly competitive pension to help you build a strong foundation for retirement.
  • Access to an annual performance‑related bonus.
  • Access to training to help you develop and progress your career.
  • A great selection of additional benefits through our salary‑sacrifice scheme.
  • Life assurance to provide peace of mind for you and your loved ones in the event of your death.
  • Wellhub access for a range of free and paid options for health and wellness.
