A local government authority in West Midlands is seeking an experienced Change Communications Lead to deliver effective communication strategies aligned with their transformation programme. Qualifications

Overview

Having come out of government intervention after two years in 2024 – the quickest ever turnaround – Sandwell Council has already been through a significant period of improvement. We’ve now set our ambition to become an outstanding council, and will continue to make changes to achieve this.

As Change Communications Lead, you will lead on the delivery of change communications as part of the council’s transformation programme, and associated change projects.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive communications lead who will use a thorough understanding of change management principles to develop and deliver communication plans for change programmes and projects that are aligned to the council’s corporate priorities and wider approach to internal communications.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable advising senior leaders and can engage stakeholders at all levels of a change project to ensure communications is meaningful to them.

You will be able to create compelling content that doesn’t just inform stakeholders but lets them know how the changes being made fit into the council’s wider ambitions.

You’ll work closely with the Internal Communications, Employee Engagement and Brand Manager to align change communications with the council’s broader internal communications strategy.
