Job summary

Untold Studios in London is seeking a skilled CFX Artist to create a broad range of effects for stylised CG and photoreal characters. You will build scalable, team-friendly CFX setups and collaborate across advertising, long-form, and Real-time projects.

You will bring deep Houdini experience, strong troubleshooting, and a proactive attitude to mentoring other artists and adopting new workflows.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Houdini with strong node-based workflows.
• Experience with VEX scripting is preferred.
• Knowledge of Vellum for cloth, feathers, and hair.
• Experience with muscle rig systems (H20.5 or H21) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create a broad range of CFX for stylised CG and photoreal characters/creatures.
• Build scalable, team-friendly CFX setups and pipelines.
• Collaborate across projects spanning advertising, long-form, and real-time.
• Troubleshoot and optimize effects to fit overall look and feel.

The Role

As a CFX Artist at Untold Studios, you will be responsible for creating a broad range of effects that work well with stylised CG and photorealistic characters/creatures. You have an excellent eye for detail and can work across a variety of projects spanning advertising, long-form and Real-time. You create effects that look believable and are consistent with the overall look and feel of every individual project. You are comfortable building scalable, team-friendly CFX set-ups and thrive when working as a part of a team.

What we’re looking for:

• Professional experience in Houdini
• Use of VEX is preferred
• Proficient with Vellum Solver (cloth, feathers, hair)
• Knowledge of muscles in either H20.5 or H21, would be beneficial
• Troubleshooting skills
• Able to work independently
• Able to do strong and procedural CFX setups
• Interest or previous experience managing and supporting other artists
• Being flexible and adaptive to new workflows
