Job description

CFIDD Team Manager

To lead a community based multi‑disciplinary Community Forensic Intellectual Developmental Disability (CFIDD) team. The delivery and development of this team is in line with the process to support individuals with a diagnosis of IDD who present a forensic risk and are currently detained under the Mental Health Act (1983 amended 2007). To identify appropriate care pathways and assist with the transition from secure care/inpatient setting into the community and case management of high‑risk complex individuals.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced); this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first two months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties of the job
  • Establish close collaborative working with Trust services, Social Care and other external partners and stakeholders such as the probation service, Police, housing, the voluntary and private sector.
  • Ensure effective and efficient deployment of resources, ensuring statutory responsibilities of the Trust are met along with identified performance targets.
  • Supervise training and development needs of staff, ensuring they are identified and met.

Job responsibilities
  • Establish close collaborative working with Trust services, Social Care and other external partners and stakeholders such as the probation service, Police, housing, the voluntary and private sector.
  • Ensure effective and efficient deployment of resources, ensuring statutory responsibilities of the Trust are met along with identified performance targets.
  • Supervise and monitor the clinical work of the team and have a clinical remit as prescribed.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Relevant professional health or social care qualification.
  • Full professional registration HCPC/ NMC required.
  • Significant post‑registration experience in Mental Health or Learning Disabilities at Degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate continued professional development to maintain professional registration.
Experience
  • Relevant skills in management and leadership position(s). Clear clinical expertise in achieving quality care and positive patient experience.
  • Experience of teaching, influencing, negotiation and supervision with evidence of being a motivational leader.
  • Experienced team worker working effectively within multi‑professional/agency services.
  • Ability to manage under intense pressure when required.
  • Thorough knowledge of National Healthcare agenda, legislation and local agendas.
  • Ability to understand and interpret operational systems, policies, procedures.
  • Skills to performance manage a staff team.
  • In‑depth understanding and working knowledge of clinical governance.
  • Experience of forensic services.
  • Experience of working with patients transitioning between inpatient and community care.
Skills
  • Plans and organises a broad range of complex activities that require the formulation or adjustment of plans/strategies.
  • Ability to lead, plan and manage a specialist team.
  • Formulates and adjusts plans and strategies to ensure the team has resources available to deliver quality patient care, oversees service and patient activity, and addresses staffing deficits in relation to staff sickness or untoward incidents requiring additional resources.

Contractual Requirements
  • Car driver with ability to travel across venues and cross geographical regions.
  • Ability to work to meet the needs of the service (including unsocial hours and bank holidays).
