Job summary

The Metropolitan Police seeks a Centre Manager Support (Band D) to provide leadership coverage and operational oversight for Bow’s Contact Centre. You will work with the Centre Manager and Chief Inspector to drive performance, staff engagement and service delivery in a high-demand environment.

You will oversee facilities, ensure safety and compliance, deputise during peak periods, and collaborate with partners to optimise processes and resilience across the Bow estate.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Centre Manager and Chief Inspector in delivering effective day-to-day operational management of the Bow Contact Centre.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams, stakeholders and partner organisations to improve processes, communication and service delivery.
  • Monitor performance trends, service demand and operational pressures, providing insight and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Support the development and maintenance of business continuity arrangements, ensuring operational resilience and compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Deputise for the Centre Manager when required, including during periods of increased demand, operational incidents or planned absence.
  • Communicate organisational updates, operational priorities and service developments to staff, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
  • Promote staff engagement by facilitating open communication, encouraging feedback and supporting a positive workplace culture.
  • Act as the local lead for facilities and workplace management, ensuring the centre remains safe, compliant and operationally effective.
  • Liaise with property, facilities and service providers to resolve maintenance issues, coordinate repairs and address environmental concerns affecting service delivery.
  • Monitor and escalate risks relating to building operations, facilities and workplace safety that could affect business continuity or staff wellbeing.
  • Support compliance with statutory, organisational and environmental requirements, ensuring operational standards are maintained.
  • Collect, analyse and present attendance, performance and management information to support local governance and decision-making.
  • Provide guidance to managers and staff on organisational policies, procedures and people-management processes.
  • Support the consistent application of organisational policies and employment frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of contact management, dispatch and operational processes to support effective service delivery.
  • Utilise operational systems and technology to support daily business activities, performance management and service delivery.
  • Support coordination during significant incidents and periods of increased operational demand, working with relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities, identifying opportunities to enhance service quality, efficiency and employee experience.

Job description

Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.

The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Primarily Bow, however flexibility is required, you may need to work from other MPS locations or external venues.

Role Profile:

As Centre Manager Support, you will work closely with the Centre Manager and Chief Inspector to provide leadership coverage, operational oversight, staff engagement, and performance assurance across Bow.

You will be a visible and trusted leader within a high‑demand, fast‑paced environment — supporting staff, influencing performance across BCUs, and ensuring the Bow estate remains safe, functional, and fit for purpose at all times.

This role also includesoversight of facilities management, ensuring that the Bow estate maintains the operational, environmental and safety standards required for a 24/7 critical service.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, proactive and people‑focusedCentre Manager Support (Band D)to join our leadership team at Bow and help drive performance, staff support, and organisational improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Centre Manager and Chief Inspector in delivering effective day-to-day operational management of the Bow Contact Centre.

Operating Hours:

Monday to Friday 0800 to 1600hrs, with some requirement to be flexible on occasion as required.
