Job description

Organisation The AHOY Centre Salary 36,000-38,000 Location The Ahoy Centre, Borthwick Street, SE8 3JY Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 6 January 2026 Interview date 11 January 2026 Job Description This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Charity with

our land-based operations and development. It blends managing our

site, along with growing the charity through greater engagement. It is

a varied role with the potential to utilise and develop a wide range of

skills.

You will become a central figure for the charity.

The Ahoy Centre has a great location on the banks of The River

Thames in Deptford. We have a boat yard full of boats, a fantastic hall

with a great view, a superb rowing and fitness gym, classrooms and

other meeting spaces. We would be looking to you to manage the

land-based assets, but also at the same time develop their use so

that they can deliver for the charity.

You will manage the land-based facilities on a day-to-day basis,

ensuring they are meeting the needs of our users. This will include

managing our reception services.

You will manage our venue hire. This will involve overseeing our

current users, ensuring a good service and generating new income by

developing new venue hire relationships.

Over the next year, we are embarking on some significant venue

capital improvements, so you will oversee the delivery of these in

conjunction with other team members.

You will also lead our volunteer programme. We currently have some

great volunteers, but we need more. You will manage our current

volunteer offer and recruit new volunteers, so that they have a great

experience, while at the same time delivering for the charity.

You will be part of the management team and you will work closely

with the Watersports Manager, ensuring the smooth running of our

activities.

The role will be a combination of public facing and internal, so you

will be comfortable operating in both environments. You will be

equally at ease working as part of a team as well as on your own.
